Pat Book

Like most of the contributors to this site, Pat is a journalist. Working for a commercial news/talk radio station has put him directly in the line of fire of several commercial music station, as they broadcast from the same building he works in. Let’s just say that he’s learned not to go crazy hearing Nickelback songs more than five times a day. He (perhaps predictably) has a soft spot for vinyl and purposefully keeps himself in debt buying records. His favourite Radiohead album is OK Computer and anyone who disagrees is simply wrong. He equally praises the entire catalogues of Radiohead, Barenaked Ladies, Refused, Blood Brothers, BB King, Stars, the Weakerthans, Dillinger Escape Plan, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, and Justin Timberlake. He loves Born To Run but could do without Born In The USA.

Tanis Fowler

Tanis is an Ontario-based TV blogger for boob tube. By night, she is a freelance reporter and editor, which qualifies her to correct your spelling and grammar, swear like a sailor, drink a lot of coffee and yell at that webslinging menace. By even later night, she likes cold beer, sunflower seeds, classic punk rock, girl groups of the ’60s, horn sections, the song stylings of Elvis Costello, and Canadian Indie-groups with no less than five members. Miss Neko Case warms the cockles of her cold, dead heart, her favourite Radiohead album is The Bends, and she is currently digging M. Ward. Tanis inherited her good musical taste from her record-collecting hippie parents, who never told her to turn it down when she comandeered their vinyl and blasted the Rolling Stones at top volume. She thinks your favourite band sucks.

Jeremy Book

Jeremy Book is a totally white collar dude, but we don’t hold that against him. Despite being a former jock he’s not that into metal. He’s actually kind of a wuss, preferring pop, rock, jazz and anything indie-rock. He’ll listen to anything Spencer Krug warbles on, loves Tom Waits – even after he started sounding like a mole man with a crushed windpipe – and listened to Feist and Broken Social Scene way before they were cool. His collection has grown a lot in the last few years to include a hell of a lot of cd’s and way over a hundred pieces of vinyl, including a very rare Sigur Ros box set that he bought because he thought it was pretty. His favourite Radiohead album is also OK Computer, but that’s probably because Patrick forced it on him. His all-time favourite band of all time is Iron & Wine, and he thinks they should be yours too. He also thinks he should be listening to more old Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra, because he’s loving that swinging big band sound.
