Christians once held their Pope in high esteem. The scholars felt very close to Almighty God. Gave them the highest respect in society.

Over time, scholars became more powerful and influential. They considered themselves the possessors of Heaven for sure. Much of the control of society then passed into the hands of scholars. They began to influence the state.

At one point ordinary Christians became impatient with their arrogance and hypocrisy. They rebelled against the church and the scholars.
Catholic churches began to break down. By crushing the power of the scholars, they formed the Protestant Church.

After a long period of riots and bloodshed, the Protestant Church sprang up all over Britain. The state was separated from religion. The revolt spread throughout Europe, and Christendom was divided into Catholic-Protestant.
